I
love to save money, as most any person does. I learned at a young age
to pay attention to unit prices. I was taught that sometimes generic is
cheaper; the jumbo size is not always a good deal, etc. These are common
sense tid bits of wisdom. Many people may read this and think, “Yeah, I
already know that.” However, not everyone does!
Moving on, while I have
always been a “deal watcher”, I did not always use coupons. In fact, it
never really occurred to me until 2008. In 2008 I started using
coupons, and paying attention to weekly sales and coupon matchups. After
saving a substantial amount at CVS a few times, I was addicted. I tried
several ways to organize the coupons, and finally settled on a coupon
binder. I prefer the zippered binders and the larger the capacity, the
better. There are other ways of organizing them. It is my own personal
preference to use a binder. Even though I watched every penny, I still
did not know everything. In fact, looking back now, I have made some
fairly dumb financial decisions and mistakes. I’ve learned from them.
2006: Our youngest child was born. Boom...I am now a mom to four children, AND our household monthly income is slashed by 40-50%. I had no paid leave at all.

It was time to
save some money!
Ultimately, my husband and I decided that it was better for our family if I became a stay at home mom, rather than go back to working 12 hour swing shifts and paying $200 per week or more in daycare costs alone. I have been that stay at home mom ever since. In early 2008, I also went to back to school, and I am finally beginning to see some tiny light at the end of the tunnel. Did I mention it was time to save some money?! I pray that I am able to graduate with my BA in early to mid 2012.

I
write because I enjoy writing. I also write this blog because I enjoy
saving money, and want to share that with others.
And yes, I do heart coupons.
